WHAT IS MICROCEMENT?

Microcement is a fine-grain coating made from cement and admixtures that is applied in 2-3 very thin layers to a maximum of 3mm to achieve a seamless look in a wide range of areas including showers, countertops and basins. It is extremely durable and highly water-resistant. Its high adhesion means it can be applied in a wide range of areas on a wide range of substrates ranging from FC sheeting, marine ply, hebel, laminate, tiles and more.

WET AREAS
Microcement is a very good choice for areas that are directly exposed to water such as showers and vanities. It offers strength (to withstand knocks), high water-resistance and flexibility (to minimise cracking due to movement). It can be applied directly over waterproofing and is sealed with our Mercadier system to a matte mineral finish.
Countertops

For a seamless look, our microcement can be applied to most countertop substrates and kitchen carcasses.

FLOORS

A naturally nuanced look can be achieved with our hand-trowelled microcement over a range of substrates including existing tiles.

Technically speaking it can be called render. But our microcement differs from common renders, in that it is applied in several thin coats, is durable, smooth and suited a wide range of applications including wet areas and floors. Plasters are usually lime, gypsum or clay-based and with the exception of (authentic) tadelakt, are generally not well suited to areas exposed to water and impact

Our Mercadier Decoration Microcement is highly water resistant and can be used in shower trays, basins and bathtubs. It is applied over (on top of) the waterproofing membrane

Yes, our microcement adheres to most surfaces. However we recommend avoiding application to existing timber benchtops.

We don’t recommend or warranty our microcement in areas that are constantly submerged in water, like pools

Our microcement can be applied to sound, clean tiles. Please refer to our product specifications for guidance.

As long as the substrate is sound and adequately prepared. Please see our product specifications.

Our microcement is durable and simple to maintain, though we do recommend using a PH neutral cleaner. We recommend not letting wet things like towels sit on the material for lengths of time, and cleaning up spills.
One of the benefits of our microcement is that it does not attract mould and when finished correctly, is simple to clean.
